next hike

Saturday October 22nd, 2016:

If you can recognize the event’s cover picture ( ), you’ve been around the group for quite a while! Back then, it was autumn of 2010 and this was one of the first hikes of our group: we were just starting the hike from Levanto to Monterosso, when this little mouse poked out of the sewer grate to greet us.

6 years later, the time may be right to hike again from Levanto to
Monterosso. They restored the walk along the old city walls, so it might be interesting to try them ourselves. The idea is to follow the medieval walls up to the clock tower, then take new trail #22 to Colla dei Bagari. From Colla dei Bagari, we’ll head down towards the sea, to admire the coast of the Cinque Terre from the Punta Mesco headland. We’ll also be able to discover how they restored the ruins of Punta Mesco this year.

A second lookout point, Mt Focone, (just before Punta Mesco) will likely provide the ideal lunch spot for our hike.

Weather forecast is uncertain; it is said that the farther we’re from Genova, the better the weather: let’s hope we’ll be far enough to enjoy some sunshine! (and, if you dare facing a sea temperature of 20 degrees, possibly have the last swim of the year?)

Trail should take 3,5 hours and is rated as T/E (easy/medium), with a vertical gain of 450 metres.
